Since July 1, 2008, when
Brookshire’s Food & Pharmacy
opened at 1325 West White
Street in Anna, Store
Director Donald Nutt and his
team have immersed
themselves in the community
and have made many friends
both inside and outside the
store.
“Our company’s mission
statement is simply to
provide a great food and
shopping experience,” Nutt
said. “But we invest time
and money in many other
ways. It really is more than
just selling groceries.”
From helping at the annual
balloon festival to judging
chili cook-offs, from
operating booths at school
carnivals to supporting
students at livestock shows,
from holding trick-or-treat
events to conducting store
tours for school groups, and
from helping needy families
in the Spirit of Christmas
Food Drive to sponsoring
youth sports and
scholarships—Nutt and
company have stretched
service beyond the routine
of stocking, checking and
bagging groceries.

Company History
It started in 1928 when Wood
T. Brookshire opened a small
grocery store on the
downtown square in Tyler,
Texas, and launched what has
become Brookshire Grocery
Co. Today the privately
owned company operates 152
supermarkets in three states
(Texas, Louisiana and
Arkansas) with three
distribution centers and
several award winning
manufacturing operations.
