Van Alstyne Independent School District

The Van Alstyne Independent School District serves a growing suburban community located between McKinney and Sherman on the I-75 corridor.  Van Alstyne ISD is a fast-growing district that serves over 2,650 students in K-12.  Currently, students attend Partin(K-4) or Sanford elementary (PK-4), Van Alstyne Middle School (5-6), Van Alstyne Junior High(7-8), and Van Alstyne High School (9-12).

 

The goal of Van Alstyne ISD is to be PREMIER. As a premier school district, we want our students and staff to be Prepared while making learning Relevant. We also look for ways to keep our students Engaged and Motivated through Innovative strategies to meet all student's needs. We take pride in our ability to be Encouraging while fostering positive Relationships.  

 

Van Alstyne ISD continually looks for ways to improve the education for all students, and is rated an "A" district by the Texas Education Agency.  Students in Van Alstyne score significantly higher than the state average on most STAAR exams, as well as on the SAT and ACT exams.  Van Alstyne students also excel in extra-curricular events, including: band, athletics, choir, theater, audio/ visual, Ag, UIL, and culinary arts. Students are also able to become active in leadership or service organizations such as PALS, Ready Set Teach, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and FCA.  

 

Van Alstyne students have the ability to choose between AP courses or dual credit courses, and can currently acquire 15 college credits from courses offered by college professors on campus during the school day. In partnership with Grayson County College, students are also able to acquire career certifications in welding, cosmetology, HVAC, electrical, and EMT. Van Alstyne High School also has a dual credit culinary certification program offered in their culinary kitchen.

 

Van Alstyne ISD places the utmost importance on the health and safety of our students.  Each of our campuses is staffed with a full time counselor and a full-time nurse to assist with our students' needs.  We also have a Van Alstyne ISD Police Department with an officer on each campus. Athletics

To support both physical and mental development, Van Alstyne ISD offers a well-rounded and competitive athletic program. As a one-high-school town, community pride runs deep, with the Panther mascot proudly representing that spirit. In 2024, the district began construction on a new, state-of-the-art athletic training complex, further investing in student-athletes’ growth and success. The athletics program includes a wide range of sports, such as football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis, golf, track, and cross-country.

Grayson College South Campus

In 1889 area merchants and landowners established Columbia College to teach arts & sciences and vocational training. Today Van Alstyne is the home of the Grayson College South Campus. Students can take courses in various fields of study including biology, computing, economics, language, education, government, history, mathematics, physical training, psychology & sociology, speech, and vocational nursing.



The South Campus has recently added both new buildings and new programs. This expansion enlarges and adds the following disciplines: medical laboratory technology, welding, electrician and Occupational Safety and Health.

Grayson College Center for Workplace Learning

The Center provides world-class education and training opportunities for employers and individuals throughout the Texoma region. Funded in part by Grayson College, the Grayson Small Business Development Center (SBDC) promotes small business success by providing management education. SBDC assists small businesses in creating jobs and economic growth by utilizing the elements of quality counseling and training, community involvement and the leveraging of resources.


Special projects at the South Campus include the Native Prairie Project started by Dr. John Partin with a grant from Texas Fish & Wildlife. This 85-acre Environmental Education Center is a native prairie encompassing various native habitats from native grasslands to woodland areas.

The Mission of the Van Alstyne Public Library is to enhance the development, growth, and well-being of our community by providing an organized collection of books, reference materials, programs, and other resources, to educate, entertain and inform.
